Hello Parents and Guardians of Herndon Magnet School Students, this is Tom Thomas, Principal of Herndon Magnet School with Herndon Highlights for the week of September 18, 2023.
 September 17-22 is Constitution Week. At Herndon, we recognize the greatness of the Constitution of the United States of America and celebrate its 236th anniversary.

 Healthy Hawk Treats will be available for Herndon students on Friday, September 22. Most items range from
.25 cents to $2.
 Yearbook pictures were taken on Friday, September 15. Your student should have come home with a yellow
sheet of paper explaining how to access his or her photo. If for some reason your child did not bring home the
yellow sheet, please email Cowen Studios at customer@cowenstudios.com.
 The school-wide HMS PTSA Little Caesars Pizza Kits fundraiser is in full swing. I hope that everyone will participate in this fundraiser, which ends on September 27. The PTSA does so much for the students and the faculty/staff at Herndon that I cannot list it all in this JCall. If you have not done so already, please join the HMS PTSA. Also, if you are looking for a way to become more involved and make new friends, there are lots of opportunities with the HMS PTSA.
 I am happy to say that the Walking Track that will be named in memory of Coach Anthony Figaro will soon be completed. I want to thank everyone who donated or participated in fundraisers for the track. I want to thank the Herndon PTSA Executive Board, both the past boards and current board, in seeing this project fulfilled. A special thanks to Tri State Mobile Contractors, and the Schichner and Moffett families, for the donations they made towards the track and for starting the building of it soon after the final approval was given by central office.
 Because of the Homecoming Football Game, Tuesday, September 19, is a Spirit Day at Herndon. Students may wear jeans, jean shorts, or uniform bottoms. The jeans or jean shorts must not have holes, rips, or tears in
them. Jean shorts cannot be more than four (4) inches above the knees all the way around. Students may wear any Herndon shirt. All clothes must meet CPSB Dress Code Policy.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Family Fun Night has been moved from Thursday, October 5 to Thursday, November 2.
