For Northwood students in advanced English classes (Honors, AP, DE, or GT), two summer reading books are required. All other students have the option to read Erased by Anders Edwards and earn an extra grade if (and only if) the student earns a grade of A or B.

Welcome to Herndon, Dr. Frank Hendrick!
We are beyond excited to announce that Dr. Frank Hendrick is joining the Herndon Magnet family as our new Assistant Principal!
Dr. Hendrick is a seasoned educator with a deep commitment to student success. He is a lifelong educator with experience at the elementary, middle, and high school level, who supports teachers and advocates for children. He looks forward to being an Herndon Hawk.
Dr. Hendrick brings a wealth of knowledge and a high level of expertise to our administrative team:
-Doctor of Education (EdD): Earned from Nova Southeastern University (2014).
-A Proven Leader: He served as Assistant Principal at Caddo Parish Middle Magnet (CMM) from 2009–2026.
-Diverse Experience: His career includes leadership roles in Texas and Florida, ranging from high school English teacher to Middle School Principal.
Dr. Hendrick is a resident of our community, living in Belcher with his wife, Paige McDade and daughter Ella who attended Herndon from K-5. Ella went to CMM for middle school to be with her dad. She is graduating with honors from Captain Shreve High School this year!
Dr. Hendrick’s transition from CMM to Herndon brings a unique perspective— combining the heart of a local parent with the expertise of a veteran administrator. We are so lucky to have his leadership as we continue leading and learning the Herndon Way!

What a day! Hawks at the Beach Field Day was a total blast. We couldn't have asked for better weather, and the energy from both the students and teachers was through the roof! ☀️🦅
From high-energy relay games and carnival stations to plenty of great food, it was a non-stop celebration. Everyone had a fantastic time soaking up the sun and enjoying the fun. We are so proud of our Hawks for showing such great spirit today! 🏖️🍔🎉

The fair showcased impressive project boards and authentic artifacts, complemented by a variety of regional food samples. 🥨🍎 It was amazing to see all that hard research come to life.
