JCall from Wednesday, February 4, 2026 Hello Herndon Families. This is your principal, Jennifer DePriest. I had hoped to be calling with a welcome back message, but unfortunately, that is not the case. While we are hopeful the end is in sight, based on the information I currently have, we continue to operate day by day as we work through this extended closure - first due to the ice storm and now due to the lack of water. Our virtual assignments are live and located on our school website. We remain committed to recovering as much learning as possible for our students. When I spoke with kindergarten teacher, Kayla Reynolds earlier today she said, “we may not get to do as much science and social studies the rest of the year, because reading is most important in kinder. Our kids are good at math, most of them have mastered adding within 0 to 5. Reading is what we have got to do. Kindergarten teachers got this. We will have our kids ready for first grade.” This is The Herndon Way - staying focused, flexible, and solutions-oriented. Teachers have been asked to monitor their email frequently to ensure any assignment or technical questions are addressed as quickly as possible. So please email them with any questions. We truly appreciate our families doing their best alongside us, even as this situation stretches way longer than any of us anticipated. We miss our Hawks and cannot wait to be reunited with them. Thank you for your continued patience, support, and partnership as we work through these challenges together - The Herndon Way.

⚠️ MANDATORY TRANSPORTATION FORMS for MIDDLE SCHOOL
Every student must return a transportation form, regardless of whether they are staying for the dance or going home normally.
Deadline: Thursday at 8:00 AM

Students who do not have a transportation form on file will be sent home on their regular schedule—no exceptions (for real 😅 we’re already extending grace due to our water woes). We must have this list by Thursday morning to ensure every child is accounted for. All students are required to have a transportation form on file.

All car riders must be picked up by 4:30 PM. Limos/party buses must leave by 4:45. Campus must be clear by 4:45 PM.
